Disaster Recovery Plan Review
CU Village will conduct a thorough review of your current disaster recovery plan. In addition to the plan itself, the review will include a high level examination of your operation and brief meetings with key management and staff to gain a better understanding of your recovery objectives and needs. Based on our findings, we will provide an assessment of the applicability and readiness of the plan as a tool to aid in disaster recovery. We will also provide guidance on any areas that may need improvement.

To complete your disaster recovery plan review, we will:
  • Review entire plan for completeness and usefulness as a recovery tool
  • Review operation and recovery objectives
  • Incorporate FFIEC or other sources of guidance for best practice applicability
  • Confirm that the plan procedures are being followed within the organization
  • Assess how well the policies and procedures defined within the plan are being followed within the organization
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to the plan as needed
Disaster Recovery and IT Security Risk Assessment
A key element to the success of your ability to protect against disaster and security threats is to have a good understanding of your risks. To help you gain this understanding, we will:
  • Review current risk assessment document for thoroughness and accuracy
  • Review risk mitigation plans and efforts for effectiveness in protecting against identified risk
  • Assess how well mitigation plans are being followed within the organization
  • Incorporate FFIEC or other sources of guidance for best practice applicability
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to the risk assessment and mitigation
  • Plans/efforts as needed
Information Technology and Security Policy and Procedure Review
Policies and procedures are important tools towards ensuring effective and consistent management of technology and security operations and response to emergency situations. They are also important documents to illustrate to regulatory examiners that you have thoroughly planned for and mitigated key risks associated with the technologies you use, both internal and member-facing.

To complete our review of your information technology and security policy and procedure, we will:
  • Review your information technology and security policies and procedures
  • Assess how well the policies and procedures are being followed within the organization
  • Incorporate FFIEC or other sources of guidance for best practice applicability
  • Recommend changes and enhancements to the policies and procedures as needed
Guidance and Training
For each area of improvement that we find, we will provide guidance and on-the-spot mentorship. We will provide the equivalent of one full day (8 hours) of training and guidance to the management team and key staff as a group. The training is intended to help build the knowledge and skills needed to perform our recommended improvements.

Written Evaluation of Findings
We will provide you with a written evaluation and presentation of our findings. Your management team can use this comprehensive evaluation as a tool to help them objectively evaluate the effectiveness of their current efforts and where there may be gaps. It will also provide a road map for any improvements that may be needed. These improvements will incorporate best practices, FFIEC guidance, and other relevant sources.

Document Development
If your credit union has neither a disaster recovery policy nor an information technology and security policy, CU Village can develop these documents for your credit union. We will incorporate FFIEC or other sources of guidance for best practice applicability, and we will work with your management team to develop plans and procedures that meet your needs based on the technology that you use, the number of employees, and the number of members you serve.
